Welcome back DIMES! Hope all is good and well! I am so very excited to introduce this Summer Bucket List Series.

Intro to the Summer Bucket List Series:

As a kid, the summertime is three months of no academic responsibility, which means non-stop fun: going swimming, playing sports, eating ice cream, and having sleepovers.

As you get older, you no longer have the luxury of a three-month vacation. However, it’s important for us working adults to find the time to experience a little summer fun! Work hard play hard am I right?

I understand that it’s hard to take a break when you have the stress of work, household responsibilities, or summer classes on your mind. But, it’s healthy to step back and enjoy your summer more like you did when you were a kid.

I am doing this Summer bucket list blog series to give you some inspiration and ideas of fun things you can do this summer!

This will be a series of articles with bucket lists focused on different types of people/different types of summer activities. My goal is to provide you with the ultimate summer fun guide for when you have free time, but don’t know how to spend it.

I will be posting a new bucket list each day, for the next few days.

Just because we’re adults doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun this summer!

The first summer bucket list of the series is for the “Cliché Summer”. In other words, I imagine a typical summer to involve these activities.

Summer Bucket List #1 – Cliché Summer:

♥ Read a book outside:

Unplugging from technology and getting off of social media for even 30 minutes can be hard for some people, but it can also be very theraputic! Reading is one of my favorite ways to unplug. Combine that with getting outside in the fresh air and you have a perfect summer moment.

In my post on Styling the Perfect Bookshelf I listed some good book recommendations if you need them!

♥ Catch fireflies:

What a classic and beautiful way to spend a summers night. I have personally never done it, but I’ve always wanted to!

♥ Go stargazing:

If you live far outside of a big city and you don’t have to deal with light pollution I envy you. But, if you do live in a big city, do some research to find a place nearby where you can drive to go stargazing! If you’re in Los Angeles, like me, you can see stars on a clear night at Griffith Park Observatory or, if you’re willing to travel a bit further outside of the city, Mount Wilson Observatory is another popular stargazing location.

♥ Make s’mores:

Yum! A classic summer treat that

♥ Watch fireworks:

I love a good professionally done firework show. Stay safe if you are using fireworks at your own home and make sure it’s legal where you live!

♥ Visit an amusement park:

Find one around where you live that interests you and just go for it! There’s all kinds of amusement parks in the Los Angeles area that I personally love to visit like Disneyland & California Adventure Park, and Six Flags Magic Mountain . I’ve never been to Universal Studios Hollywood or Knott’s Berry Farm, but I’ve heard good things and I for sure plan on going one of these days!

♥ Go mini golfing:

Ah, put-put. I once heard someone say the most accurate statement of all time: “Golf is an easy game…it’s just hard to play” so, hats off to whoever came up with the teeny version of it.

♥ Attend a music festival:

Or even just an outdoor concert is fun! I bet you could find a free local outdoor concert in your area if you’re trying not to spend money.

♥ Go out on a boat:

The best part about boating is that whether you are lounging in the boat or hanging off the back on a tube, your bound to have a good time.

♥ Go to a Western bar:

Okay, so I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go dancing at a country western bar, but haven’t gotten around to it. Everyone says it’s a blast though!

Hopefully some of those ideas were enough to spark your interest!
